Both a home and a studio are laying ahead materialized in one beautiful modern mansion on a very privileged site. This site is located on a butte in Wyoming Jackson USA, being the end result of a project envisioned by Carney Logan Burke Architects. The architect`s official description informs us that the marvelous Butte Residence is overlooking the confluence of two rivers, Snake and Gros Ventre whilst dominating the area from a strategic high point from which it obtains panoramic views over Teton Mountain Range and National Parks.
As you would expect from a breathtaking dream home in a breathtaking landscape the connection between interior and exterior spaces is really well resolved ensuring the maximum indoor outdoor connection, bringing within the home as many snapshots as possible:
“Gently curving roof forms separately capture public and private functions within the residential program. Springing from and returning to the topography of the site, the roof profile mimics the soft shape of the butte and creates a series of protective canopies that provide shelter in the harsh western landscape”
The home is wrapped up in an intriguing mix of high end materials and textures, this enhancing both the landscape and the home, vivid chromatic additions enriching the interior dynamic and freshness. Elegance and style are displayed simply through creativity and simplicity. In the living room the open plan stands out thanks to high ceilings and massive glazed walls, these bringing the interior closer to the inhabitant and increasing the living quality with big amounts of light.
We love this modern mansion because it features a mature design, it respects the environment and it`s subdued to it, a natural thing in wonderful natural environment, we do not have the right to cover this planet with our homes, but if we do have such opportunities and if we do “harm” such breathtaking environments we should be as transparent and humble as possible whilst enhancing the site where possible. Being humble with a design does not mean building poorly or with low materials but using as many green materials as possible and materializing designs that would not attract any kind of attention from the fairy tale landscape, respecting it, being subdued to it.
