Small, simple, playful. Today you will see how a weekend woodworker from California exercises his creativity, you will learn from Peter Brown how to turn a pack of pencils into a ring. A colorful DIY project that can inspire and feed the imagination. This small little project earned him more popularity than he ever expected. After gluing together a few pieces of wooden pencils and carefully shaping them into a colorful ring, our artist became highly popular and the requests have followed.
Brown started by gluing all of the pencils together as you can see in the gallery below into a brick, two pencils thick. He next simply drilled a hole through, matching the girth of a finger, he cut a rough outer form with a simple band saw before putting the ring on a lathe to finish it. The artistic result is a fascinating colorful cross-section of pencils, illustrating their leads and the warmth of the wood in which they are enclosed.
