Since the beginning of design and planning , architecture in any way has strived  to “fit in” the landscape and its surrounding. To achieve such a goal , materials used in construction had to be local , and they had to be showcased, the house chair or whatever they were used to make would have a familiar texture smell and look, this basically being the case with every house built in an European village prior to the 1960’s . In old times it was both cheap , easy and aesthetic to use local materials , because the end result fit into the landscape and created a specific look , that’s why most villages or town kept crisp clean and intact from the middle ages are so attractive or why old towns in America from 18-19th century’wild west are well integrated into the landscape , and each have a different feel and look due to varying local materials.

With rustic design its a bit of reverse engineering to get a different effect. In a world with mass produced designs , a rustic look gives a unique personal look , it also brings the rugged frontier country image but the fact that most rustic design contrasts with modern series production designs makes it stand out and be a quality product in the long run in spite of the fact that sometimes cheap or re purposed materials are used. The end result may be pleasing but keep in mind that the end result is closely tied to the time invested in making the desired object . Generaly Diy Rustic Decorations have several advantages over the decorations you buy in a store , but you may need to invest time in making the object and finding the right materials. You can use a variety of materials and go from using twigs logs to converting some old household and garden items.
