Did you know that fast food chains give out more than 50 million meals per year that contribute greatly to a landfill full of straws? Can you even imagine around let`s say 40, not 50, million plastic straws ? Of course you can`t. What we`ve started with Army of the Melting Man by Nele Azvedo, Side Table designed by Alexandre Moronnoz and the Ideas of How to Recycle Plastic Bottles we are continuing today with some inspiration of how to recycle plastic straws.
The good news is that these straws can be reused towards art and craft projects. They`re usually made from polypropylene or polyethylene, a recyclable material and you can easily make a lot of interesting objects such as lamps or decorative items. If you don’t want to put them in the recycle bin, be creative in how you want your structure or arrangement to look! It’s okay to freehand your design to see what may come out of your structure. To connect, squeeze the end of the straw and slide it through the end of another, thing that you`ve probably done already while playing at the fast food restaurant. Flex the straws at their bendable section to shape and mold the straws into loops, twists and turns for even more creative arrangements.
We have to admit that the straws used in the projects bellow are looking pretty new, we are inviting you to clean and recycle your own used straws where you can and really help the environment.
