For a while now we`ve been fascinated by the origami principle, also known as Japanese paper folding. Today, our imagination has been fed with another great portion of origami as it`s now being used in engineering constructions, giving proof of great rigidity, and also in home furniture, giving the last one a mysterious touch and the curiosity .
The coffee table that we’ll present you further on is an original design by Martin Pitonak, a design professional based in Toronto who accomplished over ten whole years of experience in custom furniture and custom mill-work,realized of different kinds of solid wood, based on the customer`s choice and budget assigned. To complete the custom origami shape wood, a 42” x 42” glass top it`s placed over with two elegant metal stands offs.
To keep the price within the budget plan, the client can choose the material from a large pallet, light wood material like cherry wood can be used for more affordable products. As a dedicated woodworking professional or carpenter, title that I like much more, Martin finishes each design step by step; from choosing materials, cutting and gluing process up to assembly. Origami requires precision and professional touch, especially that rough glass hardware is used with the wood. In order to create an even more customizable process, Martin accepts design ideas and suggestions from customers.
