At the very top of Sugar Bowl`s intimate community of snowboards in California an extraordinary vacation home has been constructed by Mt. Lincoln Construction. It was entitled Crow’s Nest Residence and while one could make the argument that the home and it`s surroundings now are a source of inspiration in terms of balance and materiality the massive sculpted shape of wood that attempts to integrate itself in the surrounding forest cannot be simply overlooked.
The home gathers expansive views throughout the home bringing the spectacular snapshots of the surrounding hills indoors from the highest lot adjacent to the ski hill.
“The highest placed lot to the adjacent ski hill, the residence maintains a sense of tranquility from its forested aspects to the West and South. Breathtaking views are afforded from almost every room in the home, including beautiful views of Castle Peak to the Northwest and Mt. Judah to the Northeast, viewed thru its corner bedroom windows.” the architects further relate.
The eccentric chalet uses its privileged position to place an immense volume that simply defies the scale of its surroundings.
From certain angles the volume seems aggressive in its boldness.
What do you think about this gigantic vacation home entitled Crow`s Nest Residence and what do you think of its scale? We would love hear from you !
