Who doesn`t love to decorate for Christmas ? We should not give any kind of advice because, for each of us, Christmas means something special, celebrated in a unique way.

Of course, most of us are using the classic red and green which will never get old and which is absolutely stunning but we suggest you to be original, use your imagination and create your own Christmas. Even though we all should just let our imagination break free, some of us will always look for guidelines, ideas and inspiration so therefore we`ve written some kind of code that we think may help.

Keep things simple. You have to know when to stop, you set the limit but it should be your house, in which you great Santa not the other way around. As Andrea del Sarto stated in 1855 ” Less is more “.

Keep your decorations spread and balanced throughout the house. Christmas is everywhere. In any room, a small accent can change the atmosphere, you`d rather have all the decoration only in the living room, or spread around the house and feel the magic even by moving trough the house? A smile can be brought by a small tree or a small candle in the bathroom, it doesn`t have to be “all in” the living room.

Inflatable decorations? Yes, why not, an inflatable Santa climbing trough your window it`s always priceless, and easy to put into place. But beside that, think twice if a sudden storm wants your Santa otherwise or if you neighbor`s pets likes chewing. Make sure they`re safe and securely tied down and think about removing in case of severe weather.

Finish the job, leave everything behind till it looks like you`ve imagined. Don’t let your tree be half bare, or even worse leave a tree outside wrapped with lights only halfway, showing your neighbor`s that the football match means more then Christmas to you. If you’re going to start something, you might as well finish it.

Put your indoor tree in front of a large window that overlooks the front yard. This is the best and easiest way to add cheer to your yard without leaving the house. Also, when people drive or walk by your house, they’re able to see your beautifully decorated Christmas tree and you can add other smiles to your joy!

Place candles in windows. Try battery-operated or electrical bulbs that look like candles so you don’t have to worry about burning your house down. This is another easy way to add cheer to your yard and collect smiles and joy without leaving the house.

Put a wreath on the front door, but make sure that it is securely attached to the door so that it doesn’t fall off, it would look way to tragic for a Christmas day. Another good idea, for the most extravagant audience out there, is to buy some wrapping paper or foil gift wrap in Christmas colors and designs and cover your front door with it. This will give your home a unique Christmas look.

Think the decoration all the way, a huge Santa Claus may not be entirely appropriate standing next to Mary and Joseph in the Nativity scene. You can have all of them in your garden or home but make it not weird.

Be original. Do not copy your neighbors, it`s kind of silly, you can buy the same lights but arrange them differently, make yours better. If you like something they have done, get inspired, but make sure you do something additional so that your display is unique and made with love .

Do not compete if you don`t feel like it. No one else should decide what your yard or house looks like. It’s your property and your money, so do what you like, maybe you can add more and more starting from 1 December and ending on 24 when you`re going to place your Santa Clause. That way your kid and family can feel how the Christmas is getting closer.

Use common sense and care when erecting outdoor displays or attaching lights to the eaves and roof of your home. The job of installing them can be dangerous and emergency room visits are common for holiday decorators.

Last but not least, safety is very important, so keep electrical cords out of walkways, wet locations and pinch points. If you don’t have exterior electric outlets, do not be tempted to run the extension cord out a window or door where it may be damaged. Do not try to light more lights than the cord is rated for, nothing can be worst then a tragedy on during this time of the year.

Further on we present some arrangements that we find find useful and inspiring, let us know on what status you are with the Christmas decorating and if you have more tips for the rest of us. Happy Holidays !
