Located in the world renowned Silicon Valley California, this extraordinary modern residence sits on a privileged site, over viewing the surroundings with class and elegance. Long story short, the home expands over two floors with an amazing blueprint on the ground, mainly perforated by glass to enjoy the marvelous views and courtyard landscaping, it uses extraordinary materials, glass staircases and walkways making a statement, makes use of black and white interior designs expressing a cold elegant atmosphere which is afterwards animated by the warmth and coziness of the wood, everything is at superlative, shinning with elegant luxury on a fresh modern mansion design. The masterpiece has been built by Swatt Miers Architects.
According to the architects, the owners of this dream house are a young couple with two children. These have asked for a home with a casual, barefoot feel, more like a holiday destination that provides strong indoor-outdoor connections. The architects are further relating:
“The design that evolved is based on a simple L- shaped plan with two wings. The east wing includes the kitchen and family room on the ground floor, with children`s bedrooms located on the upper level. The south wing consists of an office, media room, and guest suite at the lower level, with the master suite located on the second floor. Connecting the two wings is a living / dining “great room” fully glazed on the north and south sides. Under a low, cantilevered overhang, a solid mahogany pivoting entrance door opens to the dramatic “great room”, a beautiful two-story volume pierced by a floating glass bridge that runs east-west, connecting the two wings at the upper level“.
We would kindly like to ask you to help us with two things: one- we can not decide how useful and great is the “great room” , really curious what do you guys think, and second thing, do you think this home is “casual”?
