On these wonderful days our minds tend to drift away to incredible retreats and resorts filled with important memories and significance for us. Such an inspiring place is the Modern Remote Island Retreat ‘Manshausen‘ located on an isolated secluded island in Steigen, Norway designed by architecture studio Stinessen Arkitektur. Nature is the key element surprised by the architects in a simple minimal composition including a mixture of the natural element- wood and a high degree of transparency that will allow surreal views over the wonderful landscape of wild Norway.
“The cabins are designed to offer their guests shelter and comfort while at the same time underlining the dramatic experience of the elements outside; the sea, landscape, changing lights, weather and different seasons.”
Clean shapes were the basic requirements for this simple design line.
The openness and orientation towards the natural element is the main focal point sought by the architect. A chair is all that is required to admire such an unbelievable expression of the natural.
Water becomes a key element in this composition as expansive views are welcome into the interior shelter.
The natural pure raw texture of the wood provides comfort and relaxation as well as a state of modernity in its clean simple sharp lines.
The overall layout expresses a simple composition with the basic space display able to provide all the necessary commodities.
