In Sri Lanka Colombo-based architecture practice Narein Perera materialized an impressive private three-leveled bungalow; a hut-like bungalow made from a mixture of steel, timber and bamboo, high upon a hill at the border of the Sri Lankan jungle.
Extraordinary expansive views over the valley below and hills beyond justify the existence of the establishment; the form was inspired by the Chena Watch-Hut. The custom watch-huts are erected shelters for the farmers of Sri Lanka, meant to help them protect their cultivation overnight.
The new establishment designed Narein Perera was envisioned as a family retreat as well, being capable of offering shelter in a restful setting with exceptional views over the surroundings.
