Entitled “Stacking Green” the small home wearing green facades has been materialized in one of the most chaotic city in the world, Saigon. As you probably know Saigon has the highest density of population on our planet, an attribute that reflects directly into the homes volume.
The small home has been envisioned for a family of three people, a thirty-years-old couple and their mother. The plot measures no more then 4 meters width held in depth for 20 meters. As a result the volume had to be tall in order to accommodate a comfortable home. The front and back façades are the ones making a statement for themselves, wearing green from top to bottom, realized entirely by concrete planters which are cantilevered from two side walls.
In the design process the distance between the planters and their height has been adjusted to fit the requirements of the plants that will be planted, this distance varying now from 25 cm to 40 cm.
The maintenance and water routine of the planters is assured trough an automatic irrigation system hidden inside the planters. At the top of the building an extraordinary roof top garden, sky garden protects the inhabitants from direct sunlight, ensuring sound isolation and thermal isolation alike.
We find this little home fascinating, it is a living proof that green attributes can enhance small establishments in an extraordinary manner. We would love to hear your opinion regarding this small house wearing green facades and how you plan to enhance your home with green sustainable features.
