Homesthetics is sustained by the community it serves, and this page is the way in. A finished interior, a produced object, a correction, a question — every message is read.
Submit a Project
Homesthetics began as a notebook of things worth keeping, and it still grows the same way — through work that deserves saving. The editors feature completed work in interior design, product design, and the crafts of the hand: interiors that are lived in, objects that are made and used, pieces that exist beyond the screen. Selection is on merit, and never paid for. To have work considered, email [email protected] with the project name in the subject line and include the following.
- Project name, location or maker, and year of completion
- A few honest sentences on the thinking behind it — what problem the space or object solves, and for whom; the intent matters more than the polish of its description
- Photographs sized for web — up to 2500 pixels on the longest side, JPG, under 5 MB per image; around 2000 pixels is perfect. Please do not send print-resolution files or raw formats, as we cannot process them. Include the photographer’s name and written permission to publish.
- Full credits — the designers, makers, photographers, and, for interiors, the architects and contractors whose hands were in it
- Drawings, sketches, or process material where they help tell how the work came to be
If the files are too large to attach, please share them through a permanent link such as Google Drive or Dropbox rather than an expiring transfer link. Every submission is reviewed with care, and care takes time — a few weeks, sometimes more — and a project should not lose its chance because a link expired in the queue.
Homesthetics credits everyone whose hands were in a piece of work — in a field built on collaboration, the credit line is part of the design. Selected work is confirmed with its makers before publication. The volume received means submissions that are not selected cannot each be answered, but each one is seen.
Interviews
Homesthetics is beginning to sit down with the people whose work fills these pages — interior designers, product designers, artists, craftspeople — to ask the questions the pictures cannot answer. Why this material and not another; what a client asked for and what they actually needed; what a maker knows at the workbench that no one thinks to write down. The conversations are editorial, free of any commercial arrangement, and most will begin with an invitation from the editors — but if there is someone whose thinking deserves a hearing, write to [email protected] and make the case.
Corrections
Homesthetics is in the middle of the most extensive revision in its history, and readers who catch what the editors missed are part of that work. If an article contains an error, or a recommendation has aged past usefulness, write to [email protected] with the article’s address — corrections are acted on promptly and noted on the article itself, as the editorial policy sets out.
Everything Else
Questions, ideas, press, and commercial inquiries reach the editors at the same address — [email protected] — with a word in the subject line to route it. Homesthetics also publishes daily on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and YouTube.
