The traditional kitchen has until recently included light or colorful modern color schemes, letting the black out of the equation all together due to its boldness and attribute of swallowing the light from a room. Yet now a transition is occurring, designers have become more adventurous with their color pallets, including black on their priority list. Its elegance is a fact that we cannot deny, especially when inserted in a classically designed space. The industrial style with its coppery finishes and metallic insertions can incorporate black successfully and contemporary sleek glossy kitchen designs admit black when tempered and balanced with wood or white. We have selected 31 bold black kitchen designs that have been adapted to almost every taste and style, cast a glance and decide if black is the hue for you.

It adds complexity to the design line, becoming an interesting presence in the kitchen line. It drags attention to the stove which is the key element in the cooking process through its size, massiveness and choice of decoration.Moldings add a French presence to a vent hood and elegance as well whether the decor itself is simple or more complex and intricate. Coppery finishing draw attention to the vent, becoming even lovelier in time as the cooper oxides and catches that green shade finish. We have also featured some interesting examples of wooden vent hoods which add that raw rich texture of the natural wooden material into focus again.Which ever finish you choose, try and decide from the very begging the direction you will want to take with the design line and be consequent with it.
The chosen backs plash is utterly important as well, managing to bring the stove and vent hood design into focus, defining that particular area and contrasting from the rest of the room.
A white elegant design is so fresh and vibrant through simplicity we have fallen in love with this image instantly.
The below piece is one of rare beauty and transcends the basic utilitarian use of a vent hood.
A classical design framing a massive sumptuous vent hood design.
Modern designs add glamour as well in a simple minimalist way.
Whether you choose to integrate it in the overall design tone of the rest of the furniture or to make a statement our of the vent hood, options are endless and all manage to add complexity and to connect all the pieces of the puzzle a kitchen is. "Where the Tides Ebb and Flow" is a Land-Art Installation by Pedro Marzorati in which he approaches the issue of rising water levels caused by global warming, a problem that should concern everyone nowadays. The Argentinian artist grasps the climate disturbances to rise the importance of this major dispute, creating thus a controversial installation of our contemporary problems.
"Where the Tides Ebb and Flow" was introduced for the first time in 2008, as a part of Land Art "Kielzog" festival, near Amsterdam, and "Sentier du Rhone 2009" festival, in France. The sculptures illustrates the human silhouette that are more or less submerged in water and eventually they will be completely drown. The artistic projects of Pedro Marzorati relies on the reinterpretation of nature and the dematerialization of renown objects. He wants to change our perspective about the world, about the communion with nature and to warn us about the issues we created to our planet and implicitly to our lives. The global warming, one of the most vigorously debated topics on Earth, is unequivocal and tends to expand more and more each day because it is produced by human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. The effects of an increase in global temperature include a rise in sea levels and a change in the amount and pattern of precipitation. As the time pass by, more artists give us a warning signal transposed into their work, so we can acknowledge, hear, react. Pedro Marzorati quotes: "The statues speak for us, it's a way of interrogation, just ask yourselves!"
The Awakening (1980) is a 70-foot (21 m) statue of a giant embedded in the earth, struggling to free himself, located at National Harbor in Prince George’s County, Maryland, USA, just outside the District of Columbia. It was created by J. Seward Johnson Jr. and originally installed at Hains Point, Washington, D.C.
The statue consists of five separate aluminum pieces buried in the ground, giving the impression of a distressed giant attempting to free himself from the ground. The left hand and right foot barely protrude, while the bent left leg and knee jut into the air. The 17-foot (5.2 m) high right arm and hand reach farther out of the ground. The bearded face, with the mouth in mid-scream, struggles to emerge from the earth.
The sculpture was cast in five parts over a two year period. It was funded with a National Endowment for the Arts, Art in Public Places grant of $50,000 given in 1980 to the International Sculpture Center, Inc.
The sculpture was installed at East Potomac Park during the 1980 International Sculpture Conference, and remained at East Potomac Park on an open-ended loan to the National Park Service until 2007. In 2007 the sculpture was sold for $740,000 to the developers of National Harbor in Prince George’s County, Maryland. In February 2008, the sculpture was removed from East Potomac Park and installed at its new home in National Harbor, on a beach along the Potomac River.
Homesthetics Conclusion
First of all, the remarkable expression of the giant will never be forgotten once seen.
Second of all, personally, I highly appreciate the creativity of this piece of art and the effort invested in it and I fill satisfied that effort has been rewarded with a huge prize when sold the last time, all artists, from theater actors to architects should have a better life style. And their work should should be acknowledged, but it should also be worth creating in the first place.
The Japanese art of origami is an intricate, complex process requiring a 3D vision and a certain technique. The DIY Kirigami Architecture is a branch of the origami art reproducing in sheets of paper cut and glued architectural pieces and ensembles that usually are made as a pop-up card. The following Notre Dame Cathedral DIY Kirigami Architecture example is a very complex one, requiring a lot of patience and precision in cutting the exact parts properly and making the hole ensemble stand and fold right. The designer of this piece is Yee, a designer, paper engineer, paper architect and author with incredible ideas and creations. You can find several beautiful delicate DIY pieces on his website at an affordable price. We have tried one of his models and the end result was incredible. Enjoy!
"The development of origamic architecture began with Professor Masahiro Chatani’s (then a newly appointed professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology) experiments with designing original and unique greeting cards. Japanese culture encourages the giving and receiving of cards for various special occasions and holidays, particularly Japanese New Year, and according to his own account, Professor Chatani personally felt that greeting cards were a significant form of connection and communication between people. He worried that in today’s fast-paced modern world, the emotional connections called up and created by the exchange of greeting cards would become scarce.
In the early 1980s, Professor Chatani began to experiment with cutting and folding paper to make unique and interesting pop-up cards. He used techniques of origami (Japanese paper folding) and kirigami (Japanese papercutting), as well as his experience in architectural design, to create intricate patterns which played with light and shadow. Many of his creations are made of stark white paper which emphasizes the shadowing effects of the cuts and folds. In the preface to one of his books, he called the shadows of the three-dimensional cutouts created a “dreamy scene” that invited the viewer into a “fantasy world."[via Wikipedia]
"When you open this Origami Architecture creation there is wondrous movement and a structure arises which is so interesting and fascinating that it captures your attention. The dreamlike scene created by light and shadow invites you to a fantasy world. The unfolding process is unforeseen and even if you try to draw a diagram or think about it, you may find it difficult to comprehend the mechanism.
Why it is white?
It is not essential to color the paper used to make pop-ups. The play of light and shade over a plain surface can look beautiful, and clearly informs the eye about the structure of the piece. By contrast, a colored surface can be confusing because the eye sees the two dimensional decoration dominating the three dimensional form, which creates the illusion of a flat surface. Leave your pop-ups plain. They will still look stunning." [via Yee's Job]

You’ve heard of feng shui, right? The 3000 year old Chinese practice that is supposed to help you attain a delicate balance of energies? Well, believe it or not, this practice actually both a combination of art and science that has proven itself to be effective in bringing positive vibes and good health to the places it is used.
If you want to feel the benefits of feng shui as a beginner, the best way would be to use it on your entryway. You can then consider gradually moving on to complex levels if you so desire. But for now, we’re going to teach you a few ways you can imbue this ancient practice on your entryway.
1. Strong and Decorated Main Door
The main door of the house should be well-built, sturdy, and decorated differently than other doors of your home. This is important because the main door attracts the best feng shui energy in your house. The main door should be more significant than other doors so that it opens widely giving more space for the positive energy to flow inside and be welcoming. If a good relationship is maintained between the front door and the home structure, the Chi will flow in your home with perfect balance, maintaining harmony.
2. Good Feng Shui Designed Main Entry Rug
The main entry rug also plays a significant role in attracting good Chi in your house. When choosing your main entry rug, you need to consider the color, shape, and design of it. The main entry rug should look attractive to give a welcoming feel yet it should be proper to step on every day. For example, do not choose a main entry rug with your business name written on it or with pictures of angels and birds which are not appropriate to step.
Consider a rug with a feel of stepping on sand or grass. However, if you are choosing an abstract design, check for the colors and shapes associated with the place your front door is facing. For instance, if your front door is facing the east, select a rectangular or square shaped rug with colors representing wood, earth or water elements. Do not use a round and red or gray colored rug in this direction which represents metal and fire elements.
3. Front Door is facing the Back Door
Feng Shui is primarily about the flow of energy where the main door is responsible for attracting the positive flow of energy in your home if the back door is in direct alignment with the main door, it resembles Sha Chi, a harsh quality of feng shui energy. It is best to avoid this construction if you are going to make your home. However, if it is already built, try by repositioning your furniture, placing a plant or work with colors to obstruct the flow of good energy going away from the back door.
4. Bathroom or Toilet is facing the Front Door
This is another awkward positioning of the toilet which you will feel your home not welcoming if the toilet or bathroom is facing your main entrance. Feng shui experts say that if your toilet or bathroom is positioned in front of the main door, the good Chi escapes through the bathroom or turns into negative energy. Consider not constructing this plan and if this is already built, try using a screen room divider if there is space or improve feng shui of your toilet or bathroom.
5. Bathroom above the Main Entry
Bathroom above the main entry also has a negative impact. You need to strengthen other areas and the main door for proper inflow good feng shui energy. Also, consider the bathroom remedies in feng shui for a proper balance of the good energy.
6. Staircase is facing the Front Door
The good Chi energy will flow upwards without maintaining a proper balance of good energy in your area for the main entrance. Usually, you have bedrooms in the upstairs, and so, the living or dining area will have no good energy. Moreover, it creates a pushing movement of energy which will act in a way to push the good energy out of the house. For remedies, it is best to consult a feng shui expert for cures.
7. Mirror facing the Front Door
Mirrors can work greatly to maintain a proper balance of good energy in your home, but ideal positioning is very crucial. If a mirror is placed in front of your main door, the positive energy entering into your home will be pushed back resulting in no flow of energy. So, it is highly recommended not to keep a mirror facing the main entrance and also, it is bad to keep a mirror facing directly to your bed.
8. A Close Wall in front of the Main Door
When the positive feng shui energy enters through the main entrance, it needs space to flow properly in your home maintaining a good balance of energy. If there is wall very close to the main door, the flow gets obstructed and results in a pushing force backward.
9. Flower or Garden in front of the Main Door
If you have gardens or flowers in front of your main door, it adorns the area which also attracts good energy. However, pointed leaves or thorny plants can create negative energy and so it is important to avoid these plants. Fresh and colorful flowers bring luck, and green plants symbolize richness and abundance.
10. Keeping the Space Clutter-Free
How will it look if the area in front of your main entry is cluttered? You are sure not to feel nice, and moreover, it creates fatigue and frustration evidently making you realize the negative flow of energy in your home. Simply, ensure to keep the main entrance and also the front of your house clutter-free so that good Chi is attracted and flows in your house without any obstacles.
11. Avoid Sharp and Pointy Objects
Sharp or pointed objects create a negative Chi similarly like pointed leaves or thorny points. So, it is important to avoid keeping sharp or pointed objects especially facing towards the front door which turns the positive Chi into negative energy. Pointed objects include triangular roofs, electric poles, etc. Some feng shui experts suggest using mirrors in proper positions to nullify the negativity with the reflection.
12. Kitchen is facing the Front Door
If a kitchen faces the front door, the good Chi entering through the main door gets destroyed by the fire while cooking. In this process, some experts tell that the occupants face problems with saving money and expenses. There is no real remedy for this issue and reconstruction is recommended.
13. Leading to Doors of Other Rooms
The problem with doors of other rooms facing the main door is similar to the problem with staircase facing the main door. The remedies are also similar, and so you can add heavy furniture or place plants to obstruct the flow of the energy directly to the only specific room.
14. Color
Colored main doors can also make it attractive, attracting positive Chi. Based on the direction in which your main door is facing, choose a color so that best energy is harnessed. So, if your main door is facing the east, choose a color from brown, black, blue and green symbolizing wood element, and the worst colors will be red, orange or purple in this direction as they symbolize metal and fire elements.
15. Material and Maintenance
Security is of primary importance and your main door should be made of good materials to be safe. Wooden doors are mainly preferred in most houses. Metals are also used but more maintenance is required for metallic doors. Make sure that they are well-maintained to be attractive and do not make any squeaking sound when opening or closing the door. This sound actually turns the positive Chi into negative making it important to add grease often on the hinges.
Reading the Bagua map is important to understand the energies of any given space. The energy map can be divided into eight segments based on the directions, and each segment represents an aspect of life. North corresponds to career, east to health, south-east to money, south to fame, south-west to love and relationships, and west to creativity. The main entrance is an important factor in determining flow of energy.
However, a single way or consideration can either make or break the positive energy flow from your main door. Either of the factors can outweigh the others. So, it is vital to ensure all the considerations to create a perfect harmony.
Today we are tackling the issue of the kitchen. To be more exact, the charming French kitchen decor we all love and long for in our homes. We all adore their attention to details and complex composition in natural neutral tones with elegant combinations of materials and textures. But we are here to convince you that such a design line is more than meets the eye. Its complexity comes from the life contained within those walls, from its comfortable atmosphere and constant utilization of the space. A french kitchen is one used to its potential and tended with care and love. natural elements such as freshly cut flowers are a must along with the intense usage of wood and other natural materials such as stone cork rocks.
Go for neutral tones and small insertions of turquoise-green accents to liven up the space. White surfaces combined with the natural element of wood transform the space, making it more pleasant. Decorations are also a must in such a design. Ceramic are turned into works of art, starring with ingredient vessels and ending up with a key element of the kitchen: the sink. Mosaic designed sinks exude elegance and comfort at the same time. Another important item in your French kitchen is the stove. If you want to keep things authentic try building a super sized oven to center the space and set the entire's room tone.
Stenciled furniture in lavender and white tones provide a certain romantic air to the design line whereas the green bright herbs add freshness.A french kitchen has transformed every single item including every container into a work of art ready to be photographed at any moment.
Copper is another wonderful material served perfectly combined with natural stone or bricks. Raw and sturdy, its earthy tones are elegant and cozy at the same time.
A blue-green back-splash will bring everything together and put that beautiful stove into attention, contrasting with the rest of the breezy white design line.
Well that's what we call a furnace! With such a distinguished piece your kitchen will definitely shine and will become the most used room of the house.
Small details such as the combination of coppery tones and blue-greenish tile wall make the difference.
Choosing a color scheme should be one of the primary steps one should take in the attempt of transforming his kitchen into one with a french flare.
Ceramic in pastel tones are a must, adding romance and delicacy to the entire design.
Natural lighting is also a key element, adding freshness and opening up the space, making it more pleasant to use.
Accessories complete the design scheme, adding depth and complexity to the end result.
In the end the most important aspect is the love care and attention given to this central space of the home. We invite you to put things into perspective and to offer your kitchen its rightful place as the one place that can gather the entire family every day.Feel free to share your take on this subject in the comment section below.

Sounds a little like an art project right? Maybe , but it`s actually much much more than that. D.A.R.E stands for Development Association for Renewable Energy, and they came up with the idea. Plastic bottles are pretty much the slowest biodegradable thing you will ever throw in your garbage can. So if they last so much why not build something with them? That`s what D.A.R.E thought I guess. The bottles are filled with earth or sand(preferably sand) , joined together at the neck by strings and cemented together with mud. This creates and incredibly sturdy , stable and lasting structure. The first house built this way is in Nigeria, where it solves another two big problems : the lack of housing, and the millions of plastic bottles laying around in rivers, on the streets etc. To make things even better, the project is designed to be self sustainable and will use solar panels, water filtration and a whole range of other eco sustainable toys.
Due to the building technique the house also provides an ideal thermal comfort, and is virtually bulletproof. That might come in handy in parts of Nigeria and the African continent for that matter.

When it comes to throwing a party, we rarely take color schemes into consideration, focusing our attention to the food that will be served, to the music that should be played and to the actual guest list. Decoration and overall atmosphere is usually a result, not a well thought desire, reason for which in some cases a party does not come together properly and appears fragmented. Many will argue that organizing such a particular party, and here we will be talking about an all white party, will prove to be very difficult and time consuming. In truth, starting party preparations by choosing a color theme will ease and limit your options, making the actual decision making process easier. You have limited options for flowers, light, tableware and food, accelerating the process and merging every piece in an unique, complete, delicate and complex picture.
All white parties are usually assigned to weddings and baby showers yet there is no reason for which you could not organize a small white gathering in your home in a summer or winter night. Even if you might not have a white base such as a completely white pure room with white furniture, this can be balanced by the usage of stark decorations and discreet lighting. We have gathered a few ideas and projects meant to ease up the process of throwing an all white party. Cast a glance and decide if this particular color scheme may work for you and your taste.

An excellent unusual interior design realized by me should be actually a very usual cozy interior design for you, supposedly that is the job of the interior designers. More or less nowadays we tend to buy standard kitchens bathrooms bedroom from big corporate furniture retailers like IKEA, while their collection satisfies most of the contemporary interior designs and the overall apparel is very functional and beautiful, the personal touch is completely lost, the unusual excellent feel is forgotten. Interior designers are not always able to capture your personality in they`re design either so we advice you to have an idea in mind before telling them to start working on it, your implication should always exist.
In this post we`ve added some photos that we consider inspiring, from our selection you may like just one or two pictures or you may like them all, each of the pictures is added with a particular reason, capturing an important natural aspect of the inhabitant.
Always keep in mind that a creative and inspiring interior is helping your personal life, it influences your state of mind, it can create or ameliorate different moods, your home after all is your own retreat.
“Is it possible for home to be a person and not a place?”
― Stephanie Perkins, Anna and the French Kiss
We can`t tell how it should be without getting to know you in person, without telling us what you love, why and how. Therefore I think you should realize a small introspection and decide these things for your own. Further I will point some general aspects that should be considered when you design your own home. Try to answer some of them, the most relevant to you; these answers will be the first step of your design process, your own unusual interior design.
1. Ask yourself how much of the design process you are willing to do on your own and decide on a budget, it will always get surpassed probably but it will be a limit.
2.Your home should be the place in which you`re describing yourself a little, your hobbies, your lifestyle and your future plans, a good design should consider all these right from the start, you don`t need a huge football chair in your home if you`re a football fan, not in particular, but a small ticket from the best match you`ve ever attended framed would be a very personal approach, the frame does not have to be on display, it can be in your personal office.
3. A family home will be totally different from abachelor pad, your kids should have they`re own part in this amazing interior and you should definitely consider their aspiration and try to help them realize them.
4. Do you need a minimalist interior? Warmth ?Coziness? Eco-Friendly? Natural and Organic or Simple and Linear? Do you need all these mixed? Go nuts.
5. Absolutely any kind of design, even a linear one can be completed or contradicted by an organic texture for example. The texture and finish of the materials is a very important thing that most of us are leaving behind. We just think about the gadgets and furniture, we paint the walls and that`s it, but why it can`t be wood, rock or wallpaper on the background? Maybe a vertical garden or a glass wall?

We know that the general impression of a laundry room is that it's not a place to attract or impress but rather just a functional space that possess no aesthetic attributes. This article should change your mind and help you gain a new perspective on how stylish and cool a laundry room can be and possibly inspire you when designing your own.
Here's a peek on the most stylish laundry rooms presented in this article
A Few Tips and Pointers
-when designing your own laundry room make sure that you foresee all the steps in the process of washing clothes and organize the space accordingly so that you won't get a clustered one; it will make your work much easier;
-don't have enough space for every appliance? Don't worry, there are a few space saving solution that might make everything fit like stacking the dryer on top of the washer(leaving space for a narrow cabinet) or using the seemingly unimportant space behind the door (which can be used as a depositing area for detergents or clothes);
-you might also place a counter top above the washing machine and the dryer as that space is usually lost; by doing so you'll get a nice surface on which you can fold clothes and part socks once, making your job easier);
-make sure that you have enough light too as it's rather uncomfortable doing laundry with not enough of it; natural light is preferable but if there's no window install more light bulbs and consider illuminating the places where you sort and fold clothes separately;
-one last advice is to look at your laundry room not as a space where you won't spend much time and there's no need to achieve a stylish and beautiful design but rather as a room where a few warm colours and materials might just make your work less undesirable;
Vivid Contemporary Laundry Room
Warm colours, enough space to keep everything clean and a stylish desk with a wonderful view. Natural light is the word that best describes this laundry room design idea. There's a lot of attention to detail as well like the small chair to reach the upper drawers, the small sink and the clock above it. Love it!

Fashion Styled Laundry Room
This picture shows exactly how a proper laundry room should look like. The design is artistic yet simple and clear and there's plenty of natural light. A small but very effective touch is the way the washing machine and dryer were elevated to achieve an easier reach. In this sense the best case is to raise them by at least two feet but it's better still than placing them directly on the floor.
This example shows a great deal of unity in design. All the furniture was built in the same classic way, which fits perfectly with the floor and the window frame. Another attribute is the amount of space available, making everything tidy and all the work less difficult.
Elegant Laundry Room Design Idea.
Rustic Laundry Room Design Idea
Apart from the modern designed washing machine and dryer everything looks very traditional, intimate and unique. The baskets are a very nice way to replace the wide used drawers. The hanging bar above the machines is a very nice functional touch, helping you sort your clothes faster. Rustic Laundry Room Design Idea.
The cabinets are of course the main attraction of this design as they look very modern and match, as it rarely happens, the machines. The height difference between the counter is probably not the best idea but nevertheless there are a few very useful lights under the cabinets that make everything even more stylish and cool.
The great thing about this example is that it shows how everything you need can be placed in a tight spot, with only what you need. There's no sink of course but the storage ideas surely manage all the clothes. Their amount depends of course on the number of people using them. A small laundry room like this one will make your job easier as everything is in one place so you won't have to walk around a lot (which really is a lot if you have a busy day).

There's no doubt no shortage of storage space here and the design is all in all lovely with the wooden cabinets and the contrast between the and the rest, along with the white carpet . However, think about how much you'll have to walk around from one laundry station to another. It's a bit pointless if you ask me, even you have a big enough house. The laundry room is surely, like we like to point out, an important space but make sure you don't waste any. Make it no bigger than necessary.

The Significance Of Color In Design, Marketing and Sensation
We are surrounded by colors. The light itself is composed of colors.
"White light is a mixture of colors, which we conventionally divide into six major hues—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. We can identify each of these basic colors by passing light through a prism. In principle, the original beam of white light could be restored by passing the entire red-to-violet range of colors—called a spectrum (plural: spectra)—through a second, oppositely oriented prism to recombine the colored beams. This experiment was first reported by Isaac Newton over 300 years ago
What determines the color of a beam of light? The answer is its wavelength (or, equivalently, its frequency). We see different colors because our eyes react differently to electromagnetic waves of different wavelengths. A prism splits a beam of light up into the familiar "rainbow" of colors because light rays of different wavelengths are bent, or refracted, slightly differently as they pass through the prism—red light the least, violet light the most. Red light has a frequency of roughly 4.3 1014 Hz, corresponding to a wavelength of about 7.0 10 -7 m. Violet light, at the other end of the visible range, has nearly double the frequency—7.5 1014 Hz—and (since the speed of light is the same in either case) just over half the wavelength—4.0 10 -7 m. The other colors we see have frequencies and wavelengths intermediate between these two extremes, spanning the entire visible spectrum; radiation outside this range is invisible to human eyes."
Without colors, our world would really be a sad place. Each color has been proven to be associated with a different emotion and state of mind. Red represents passion, yellow jealousy, white purity etc. Depending on the color tone, we can change the atmosphere of a room and what it exudes to its inhabitant. Therefore, we must think hard before buying a colorful decorative piece for your interior and consider its role in your color scheme ensemble. Growing an avocado houseplant from an avocado seed is in theory a very simple task and an equally educative and fascinating DIY project that can be enjoyed and loved by the entire family. Seeing a plant growing and nurturing under your very eyes day by day offers you an extraordinary rewardful feeling. You have made the world just a little better now and you can spread this amazing project, share it with your friends and your loved ones and challenge them to grow their own, the one that grows the plant faster out of the seed will win. In just 9 steps you will learn how to grow an avocado houseplant from an avocado seed below, do your best and share the results with the rest of us so we can complete this article with the plant you`ve nurtured.
1. Eat an avocado and keep the seed. Wash it and by making use of three toothpicks suspend the broad end down over a bowl or glass filled with water. Make sure that an inch of the seed is immersed in water.
2. Take the glass and simply position it strategically in a place in which it will enjoy both direct sunlight and warmth. Make sure that your seed has that inch of water at all costs, replenish the water when needed. In just two to six weeks you should see some results as the roots and stem sprout will emerge.
3. Soon the stem will hit six -seven inches in length and it is now time to cut it a little back to three inches.
4. Roots will thicken and the steam will leaf again even more powerful now giving you enough signs that it's time to give it another little shelter. Plant it in rich humus soil in a pot with 10-1/2" diameter and leave half of the seed exposed. Basically that part that was immersed in water will now be in soil.
5. Make sure your plant is frequently watered and on occasion give it a deep soak to spoil it. The soil should be most at all times yet never saturated. If you see yellow leaves it is a sign of over-watering. Let the plant dry out a few days if this is the case.
6. Keep in mind that the more sunlight it receives the better.
7. If you reach a point in which the leaves are turning brown, being fried at the tips it is a clear sign that too much salt has been accumulated in the soil. Try to let the water run freely through the pot and carefully drain it for a while afterwards.
8. Your stem has now reached approximately 12 inches high. Great job so far. It is time to cut it back to ~6 inches to encourage the growth of new shoots.
9. Congratulations, you`ve made it ! A new plant is filtering oxygen now and makes the world a better place thanks to you. Keep in mind though that this experiment will not return your fruit in less than seven years. A avocado tree grown from a seed is entirely different from its parent and it takes 7-15 years to begin producing fruits. The known varieties that we usually purchase are grafted to preserve their varietal characteristics rather than being grown from a seed. You may be however the new owner of a a new extraordinary avocado fruit that no one in the world posses as every plant is unique so have patience and wait.
What do you think? We challenge you to use this small tutorial and grow your own avocado tree and share your results and the tutorial with the rest of the world. Be the change that you would like to see in the world and start by making this world a little greener from a simple seed!

Use different colors, textures for different interesting effects. Then start embellishing them with buttons, lace, glitter, you name it. Just have fun with it!
3D Star Tutorial:
By using just a ruler and a cup you can work wonders. Or if you are more experienced, you could use compasses.
Use a glass(round one) and choose its diameter.
Draw a circle around the glass and choose 6 equidistant points on the circle.
Draw lines between two points, skipping alternate ones and you will end up with the start in figure 3.
Cut out the star, and fold right-sides together along each of the INNER angles of the star – do this 3 times in total.
Turn over and fold wrong-sides together along each of the OUTER POINTS of the star, giving you your 3D shape – again, make 3 folds.
Refold and pop up your star.
If you want to try the compass method, decide the circumference of your star, draw that circle and choose a point on it. Move the arms of the compass to mark either side of this where it bisects, and ‘walk’ your compass around the rim to make 6 marks in total – by holding the compass in the original position you won’t need to measure. Then follow steps 3-6 as above.
So what do you think? Would you try this fun project? Enjoy it as much as we did!
Have you ever considered building your outdoor pizza oven? It something extraordinary, the taste of a pizza cooked in a natural oven is unmistakable, superior to the regular gas oven. The base of the oven can be realized with wooden logs, upcycled bricks or local rocks such as flagstones, as showcased below. This base will give you the comfort of working on a decent height, without hurting your back. Moreover the base protects the oven from rain and snow, allowing it to maintain the heat for much longer and giving it extended usability during the unfriendly season.
After determining the area covered by the base it is time to work on height. Overlap the materials up to the desired height. Fill the center that would isolate the base of the future even from the earth further more. You can use sand, empty glass bottles or basalt rocks. This layer should be stable so if you choose to use empty glass bottles, which are highly effective thanks to the air that they will contain, make sure that you have used some earth to fix them into place.
Carefully flatten and level the top of the base now. It is time to lay the foundation of your future cob oven with firebricks. Make sure that you have the right set of bricks or the effort will be in vain. Fire bricks retain heat, allowing your oven to release it onto your food goods.
After positioning the bricks in the center it is time draw the future center of the cob oven and imagine how it will look. Here your pizza will be baked . It should be round to ensure that the heat is retained evenly by all sides.Make sure that the front door, the three bricks below, is being protected by fire brick as well.It would be useful to ensure that walls are making contact with fire bricks in the interior and not with base directly, in this manner you will keep the heat in the oven far longer.
If you have the time and will, sift the sand that will go into the making of the cob mixture. This will ensure a better quality and a longer life.
Shape the negative, the mould with wet sand, on which you will stick the cob mixture. This is basically the shape of the cavity inside the oven. Mark the center to keep track of the desired height. In this case 16".
Bellow showcased the finished mould in wet sands resides. It will be covered in cob mix on the nest step but give it some time to dry.
Cover the mould with some wet newspaper to keep the mould`s shape still while you slap the wet cob on top of it.
Mixing the cob is no easy job. 2 parts sand, one part clayish soil, some chopped straw as a binder and water, these materials have been used. If you want to spice things up use some premium horse manure, it will help the mixture bind even more.
Work on DIY projects with love or do not work at all.
"Work is Love made visible. And if you cannot work with love, but only with distaste, it is better that you leave your work and sit at the temple and take alms of those who work with joy. For if you bake your bread with indifference, you bake a bitter bread that feeds but half our hunger."
Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
It is time. Starting from the bottom up it`s time to lay the first layer, do your best to keep it at an even thickness. Wait the first layer to dry up a little, not entirely, before you go on with the next layers.
Take note that the height of the top inside of the oven, basically the highest point of the dome, needs to be x 1.6 the height of the door opening. In this project the door opening was 10" and as a result the highest point of the dme was at 16". This ensures optimal air and heat circulation when the oven is being heated up with fire inside.
Adding the last layer.
In the end, the whole thing looked a lot like a giant frog so we've decided to ensure that the oven is perceived that way. This act made our cob oven far far more graphic and appealing.
The finished Frog Horno with the wooden door in place
You are done. Start by making a 15 minute fire, everyday, for a week. These daily heat injections will make the cob oven more durable. Cooking comes next. Get creative and enjoy the results of your extraordinary cob oven.
What do you think about DIY Cob Oven Project? Would you be interested in using one outdoors for your special pizza recipe? Please take note that these can be realized indoors as well, in a shed or similar establishment. All you have to do is to ensure that the furnace has another air to function and allow you to breathe as well.
The right interior decor for little ones is very easy to find, but usually the design items are quite pricey so why not try to create some yourself. The following topic requires a great deal of patience and time but the end result is fun, colorful and highly appreciated and loved by little ones.
Pom-poms have always been associated with childhood and the pom-pom craft revives old memories of my grandmother making me crouched hats with colorful pom poms. And although I'm not a child anymore, pom-pom rugs and chairs and blankets make me smile and seem so cozy and warm that I want to start making one for myself right away. All you need is colorful thread, lots and lots of thread, a scissors, a fork or a cardboard circle and tons of patience.
It may take a while before you have enough pom-poms to make a rug or blanket but you can make them while watching your TV series or you have a little bit of time off from all the daily chores. You can even teach your kids how to make them and create something together. We hope you will try this DIY project and share your ideas with us. Its transparency can transform the flower's roots into a little piece of art which develops and grows in time. Another advantage in using a glass bowl as a herb or flower pot is the fact that it can integrate in any interior design and give it a shiny beautiful touch.

Wood is a very used material and its primary advantage is the fact that it can age beautifully, looking better and better in time. Its very easy to use and make a small wooden box or just use an old recycled one and transform into a flower pot. If the box is in good condition you can place the arrangement inside your home; if not it would integrate wonderfully into your garden.

3.Use recycled tin cans as Hebs & Flower Pots
Tin cans take a very long time to disintegrate and unfortunately most of us throw them away instead of recycling them. Try using them in a useful way; buy some colorful can sprays and just play with them. Its a fun activity and you can ask your kids to join you and create some unique pieces.

6.Light bulbs as flower pots
Well, this is a very strange idea bur quite creative as well. Lighting bulbs are usually tossed away after they burn but using them as a small beautiful flower pot can be a very useful tip. Imagine placing several of these onto a glass table. The effect would be amazing with the flowers reflecting into 2 glass objects!

7.Concrete Herbs & Flower Pots
Concrete is a more difficult material to work with but you can get creative with it and make really big flower pots for your backyard. You first have to make a mold into which you will pour the liquid concrete . You can make a mold with a model and make the flower pot more appealing. After the liquid has evaporated you are safe to remove the mold, but be careful not to crack the pot. For a seamless look try sandy it and make it smooth and neat.

We simply adore paper art in all its splendor. Whether we talk about origami art, kirigami paper ensembles or diy quilling paper art designs, they are all simply exceptional, filled with a sensible and delicate touch, they are personal and unique. These attributes are very hard to find in a regular object today, especially decorative items.
DIY projects, in general, do tend to be far more sensible and personal than other mass produced items but their not all that easy to realize, despite popular belief, they're not all inexpensive and more importantly most of them require a lot of tools, when it comes to paper, it is not the case though.
Tools & Materials Suggested
You might find these useful :
- simple slotted curling tool; this is by far the most important tool in our short list. This can help you curl curl paper strips into the desired coils and shapes that you are going to use further on in patterns. You can purchase them in any hobby shop or you can create one from a needle or even a toothpick.
- quilling paper strips; the strip that you are going to used is directly related to the project ahead of you. The most common width however is the strip of 1/8" . You can buy the strips pre-cut or make it yourself. The advantage of pre-made strips is that they are uniform and consistent and they will save you time, bear in mind that this is after all, a do it yourself project.
- Glue; a good quality glue will not ruin the work on which you've spent hours. Keep that in mind. On the first projects you can start with lower quality glue and see how it goes though.
The tools mentioned above are obviously absolutely necessary in any quilling paper art project. The ones are ahead aren't absolutely necessary but you might find them quite useful.
- A workboard; working in a system can make things easier. The first and most part of the system is of course the working board. You can make an inexpensive one from cork, corrugated cardboard, polystyrene or you can purchase one. We suggest you to cover the workboard with a thin piece of plastic or some wax paper to make things easier to clean, to stick quilling with glue on it and prevent damage to the actual board when you make a composition test or simply to improve its durability.
- Tweezers;useful to manipulate small pieces in your ensemble and glue them successfully in narrow places.
- Toothpicks; you can use them to apply very small portions of glue on each piece.
- Straight pins; used to pin quilled scrolls and coils into place on the workboard or to use the so called"husking technique" which is explained below.
- Ruler; it will ease your work when following instructions or patterns.
What is Husking?
Husking is a technique that you use to simulate a shape or pattern by pining things on your workboard, the paper strips are wrapped around each pin. It is very useful if you want to multiply a design as you can keep the pins into place and simply maintain the key positions in the compositions. This technique is very used when intricate patterns are recreated .
Quilling Kit-Paper Strips-Foam Board & More
You can, of course, purchase a quilling kit that contains absolutely everything that you need to get started. It is theoretically the best value option for beginners. However we suggest you to start without purchasing anything but paper and glue. If you manage to materialize two three pieces and you really like the process and results it is ofcourse worth the purchase. All the tools listed above are included in such kits and additional molds used to create 3D paper domes and some handy foam shaping board can be found in the kits as well.
If you're just starting out, a quilling kit contains everything you need to get started and so is probably the best value option for beginners. On top of that I've listed paper strips and quilling tools which are the most vital products needed for this hobby, plus there is a very handy foam shaping board and a fun mold for making 3D paper domes. I've picked the products with the highest rated reviews so you know you'll be getting the best:

Throwing a book away, regardless of its nature and condition is somehow a legal crime for several reasons. The most important one has to do with sustainability of course: a living organism that used to sustain you and the nature around it. That organism has been killed so that we can progress sadly and its sacrifice should be rewarded with the promise that you will make the most out of it at least. So you should. So we should. We should recycle everything as much as possible or repurpose at least. Further on DIY book paper deocoration projects have been showcased with that in mind. From time to time we have to make room in the library and throw away a few books. First intention should be donation, always, followed by upcycling and recycling.
Obviously we are not going to upcycle thousands of books but that few examples that really do interest us, those that are the hardest to let go, those that have our memories along its words should stay in a new shape in home.
There are many ways to go, all depending on your needs and style. The most common book paper decorations are of course the little items, the christmass tree decorations, some graphic wreaths and kirigami/origami paper art. The imagination has no limits and creative individuals have materialized much more though: you can wrap a lamp with your favorite pages, giving it a very warm yellow glow; you can pin to your floor, smashing words every day under your feet, walking on dreams or nightmares. We invite you to check out the list below and get inspired !

Why not recycle them into creative DIY old magazines projects which are fun and easy to make for everyone?! Paper can be used in so many different ways to obtain beautiful decorative objects! And not all are necessary just purely decorative, some may be useful as well and quite practical. Try making some Christmas tree ornaments, wrap your gifts in magazine paper or even make a clutch or use them on your nail art. Magazine paper is very versatile and can be transformed into beautiful art.
Another inspirational method to use old magazines is as a fun stool held together with leather belts. It is practical enough and you are not obliged to throw away the magazines you love revisiting from time to time. Juts be careful not to spill any coffee or juice on them and ruin your beloved collection.

What defines your home? What in your home is actually a part of you and your personality. Our homes are refugees, shelters for the mind and body alike, protecting your personality, identity and physical state from natural elements. A house becomes a home after a family or an individual has imprinted on it, after we design the space for our own use, after we furnish it and infuse it with memories and warmth. The easiest method to create your own cocoon in your home is at first by simply moving in, populating your bookshelves with your favorites, painting the walls in the color that calms or animates you and simply being present, experiencing living in your own shelter. From time to time 3D Wall Art Projects can help a great deal, especially if you are an artsy-craftsy individual. Further on more than 33 inspiring projects have been showcased. Some are simply graphic statements while others are carriers of both practicality and beauty alike. We invite you use these as a starting point in your diy projects and feed your imagination. Rope is an essential element in any nautical theme interior design scheme. It can mean the difference between an elegant authentic creation an d a cheap one which just tends to illustrate the right attitude and image but does not quite manage to pull it off. It can be used in a multitude of rope crafts and their vintage, raw, industrial appeal has caught the eye of all the big interior designers around the world.
When you say nautical you instantly fink of blue waters, sandy beaches and, of course, rope nets. This fresh image can be beautifully integrated in any bedroom design and in contrast with a light, white furniture or the opposite, a really dark, massive one the effect can be one full of elegance. If you feel wild, you can go over the top and even use on old boat as a floating bed hung from your bedroom ceiling. Wouldn't that be an experience!
Rope can also be used in outdoor projects, as candle holders hanging from your trees in your backyard or to sustain swings on your front porch. Add shells and glass bits and you've got yourself a beautiful wind chime. You can also use rope to embellish your existent furniture and design pieces: dress the body of a lamp in rope or the dinning room chandelier, use rope as drawer handles or simply beautify a mirror frame. The gallery showcased below has gathered 30 Rope Crafts and Decorating Ideas For A Nautical Theme which we have considered appealing and easy to accomplish for everyone, skilled or not in DIY Projects. Corks are a resource for DIY projects in most houses. The occasional wine with friends and family can be the source of corks stacking up beautifully waiting for something to happen in their lives. If you are not a wine drinker you surely know someone that is and is not paying attention to the corks, throwing them in the thrash every time. Cork is an extremely nice material and such resource should not end up in the garbage but used in DIY cork recycling projects creatively. There are not thousands of corks around you taking up space so there is no excuse not to keep them stored somewhere for a moment and start a diy project at a certain time, making the world a better place.

It goes without saying that decorating small spaces is no easy task yet with naturalness you can insert your own personality into the design by simply bending the space and the arrangement to your needs. We would love to hear you opinion in the comment section below on the designs showcased above.
Cereals have become a part of our daily breakfast ritual and little ones adore them. Thus we thought about cool easy projects involving cereal boxes so that you can recycle the cardboard and not throw the boxes away each time. Most projects regard storage,an embellished storage that will look good anywhere in the house. Others are simple wall decor or wall art and are very colorful and fresh, easy enough to make and quite appealing as DIY projects.
The secret is the way you dress up the cardboard cuts after the base is ready in order to make it beautiful and neat. Magazines holders, bookmarks, bookends, even a clutch, all can be made from cereal boxes if you know the right way to recycle them. A little creativity and a little bit of time and you can make almost anything from a cereal box. But choose the boxes with fun colorful wrappings and prints and be careful which parts of the cereal box you choose to use and how it would look in the end product.
We especially like the small notebooks that look very raw and vintage. Which project do you like? Share your thoughts in the comment section below and n our social networks. We hope you will enjoy our small collection featured below and feel free to share your own cereal box projects as well.
